Home Can Be Anywhere Your Heart Doesn’t Wander

“Now I am very excited and expect for the performances of our school”, a Mongolian student said. This is the second year that students of International Education College have participated in the sports meeting. Compared to the events last year, international students participate in more games this year and compete well with students from other schools.

"Pull together and never give up!" the international students waved both Chinese flags and their own national flags, shouting slogans in Chinese. Dressed in yellow sportswear, they gathered and formed a yellow ocean, which became a beautiful scene in the sports meeting.

Helping each other and never giving up

"Come on! Come on!" Several international athletes in red sportswear standing at the finish line of the 400-meter race shouted. "Chinese students ran so fast!", a Laotian girl named Wang Su laughed and said that although she didn’t get good results in the sports meeting, there was no regret. For her, participation was more important.

The 20x80 relay is a team game in which those who did not participate in the competition draped themselves in their national flags in a row to cheer for their peers. "We are the first now!" Fei Yu from Uzbekistan screamed, clapping his hands. But after a small mistake, the international students slowly lagged behind. "No matter what the grades are, working together is most important." Zhang Xin convicted, a sophomore from Laos.

Making foreign friends and warming the hearts

In the 800-meter race, a student from Kyrghyzstan fainted at the finish line after finishing half of the race, and quickly picked up. Everyone attempted to help him, irrespective of the language barrier. After checkup, the doctor said he only suffered from insufficient blood supply, and a rest was enough for him. Then many international students expressed their sincere gratitude to the doctor.

“We are really grateful for the help of Chinese students in our daily training.” Wang Su recalled that Chinese students were very willing to translate and answer any questions when they confront language barrier. “All of the help are very heartwarming.” Wang Su smiled.

Perfecting details and showing a caring heart

As an assistant head teacher, Zhu Yangfeng, a student from the School of Foreign Studies, won the trust of international students for her pleasant personality and conscientiousness. “We provide guidance to international students when necessary. Actually, they can solve most problems by themselves,” she mentioned with excitement.

Teacher Yi Linqun was pleased to see those foreign students could well adapt to the life here, “They are all in a good condition and participation”. She pointed out that HNUST has put many efforts into international students’ sports education, which is also an important factor in making international students more integrated with Chinese students.
