On the morning of September 18th, the School of Foreign Studies of Hunan University of Science and Technology (HNUST) held the “Teacher-Student Rapport” First Day of School Educational Activity in the First Athletic Field. The event includes outdoor running and a breakfast buffet. Li Lin, Vice President of HNUST, Yin Fengyu, Secretary of the Party Committee Office of HNUST, Zhang Jinghua, Dean of School of Foreign Studies and Zhou Qiqiang, Secretary of the School of Foreign Studies, along with all postgraduate mentors and new postgraduates of 2022 attended the activity. The event was hosted by Hu Peng, Vice Secretary of the School of Foreign Studies.
In her opening remarks, Li affirmed the significance of the event and demanded students view postgraduate studies as an important phase to broaden horizons, assume responsibility and seek aspirations, rather than as a steppingstone for job hunting. Li also stated her expectations for the new HNUSTer, based on the university’s construction strategies and education principles. She hoped that all new students could heartedly enjoy their lives while working with aspirations and passion for innovation and self-cultivation.
The student’s jogging session started at 7a.m, accompanied by the rising sun and soothing music. All students and faculty members took a group photo to mark the occasion afterward.
The teachers and students went to the student canteen, Eight Treasure Mansion, for breakfast, where they had a great time chatting in the relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
“Today’s activities not only helped us build up a good physique but also encouraged our team spirit. I have many expectations for the upcoming life, and I hope I can maintain the same passion and vigor I showed today”, said Zhou Rujia, an English major from the Class of 2022.
