Focus on the Strong Support Behind the Makeshift Hospital for Vaccination

From March 27th to April 2nd, HNUST cooperated with the Central Hospital of Xiangtan to construct the biggest makeshift hospital for the Covid-19 vaccination. It was planned that 42,000 people would get their first vaccination within 8 days. Due to the large number of the vaccinations each day, the relevant personnel of HNUST fully assisted the medical staff of the Central Hospital of Xiangtan in facilitating the work of the vaccination.

After receiving the task of constructing the biggest makeshift hospital for vaccination, HNUST actively arranged the work and altered the Gymnasium (2) into a makeshift hospital, which not only met its hygienic standard, but also provided the medical staff with a comfortable working environment. Chen Fangqun, the director of Nursing Department in the Central Hospital of Xiangtan, expressed his gratitude to the strong support and cooperation of the leaders and teachers in HNUST.

In order to prevent the traffic jam and ensure the unimpeded transportation, HNUST specially arranged security men to guarantee the safety of cars and manage car-parking around the gymnasium.

The volunteers in red or blue vest devoted themselves to the busy work inside and outside the hospital. They constituted a team, named Volunteers for the Vaccination in HNUST, which was set up specially for the Covid-19 Vaccination. Its members mainly came from the volunteer group of Student Union and Youth and Health Companion Association in HNUST. And they would formally do the voluntary work after signing up and receiving special training.

Wang Cheng, the head of the volunteer group, majoring in History of School of Humanities, introduced that there were about 200 volunteers in total scattering in every region in the hospital who were mainly in charge of problem consultation, temperature detection, information review, mobile services in order to provide convenience for medical staff and vaccinees.

It was reported that HNUST was responsible for the renovation and layout of the makeshift hospital at early stage, on-site volunteer services, security work etc. And there were about five to seven people from the security team and 50 volunteers from volunteer group working on site every day.
