Special Training Seminar on Reform of Credit System

On April 24th, in order to promote the reform of credit system, HNUST held a special training seminar on the reform of credit system. Vice President Hu Shiqi, together with deputy deans in charge of the schools and all the staff of the Dean's Office attended the seminar.
On the seminar, Professor Yu Shengming from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, delivered a lecture on the topic of “the reform of credit system adapting to the characteristics of university”. He stressed that innovative teaching management measures are key to promoting the reform of credit system. The first is to formulate and improve the management rules and regulations compatible with the credit system; the second is to develop a personalized training program; the third is to integrate the curriculum resources that fit with the system and arrange the curricula scientifically; the fourth is to center on students, and strengthen the learning process management. After the lecture, Professor Yu and the attendees had an in-depth discussion on the revision of talent cultivation program, the examination reform and other issues.
Hu made proposals in two aspects: The first is to unify thinking, accurately grasp the intension of credit system and have a profound understanding of the importance as well as the necessity of credit system. The second is to fully comprehend the objectives and requirements of the reform. The aim is to carry out the reform from 2020 freshmen. Relevant units and departments should learn more, do more investigations and make a reform scheme as soon as possible. He emphasized that three important work should be concentrated during the promotion:the emendation of talent cultivating plans and related management systems; the transition of the management services and the upgrading of informatization management platform; and the rational and scientific establishment of credit system.
The person in charge of the Dean’s Office said that although the reform of credit system would increase difficulties on teaching management services, all the teachers and educational administration members should endeavor to promote the reform and innovation while persisting in learning, for the talent training is a “student-centered” livelihood project.
