President Zhu Chuanqu’s Remarks on Employment at Ministry of Education Video Conference












On March 25th, College Graduates Employment Monitoring Video Conference, presided by Wang Hui, Director of College & University Students Department was held in Beijing. HNUST set the branch venue in Lide Building. President Zhu Chuanqu, and Vice President Hu Shiqi attended the meeting.
President Zhu delivered the speech named Finishing employment statistical work with innovative management, excellence and high quality. Representatives from three universities nationwide were invited to give remarks on the conference. HNUST is one of them.
President Zhu pointed out that HNUST is a model university experienced in employment and entrepreneurship and has won the title of Provincial Outstanding Unit of the Top Leadership Project Supervision in Employment in five successive years. In addition, he provided four suggestions concerning how to perform well in terms of employment:
The first is to establish a working mechanism to promote the refinement of responsibilities implementation. HNUST has strengthened mechanism construction and formed relevant documents including Measures for the Administration of Employment Guidance and Services and intensified assessment management by including employment statistics into the assessment system.
The second is to build information platforms to improve the refinement of supervision. HNUST built QQ groups for this year’s graduates, through which the persons in charge can communicate directly with the graduates, and timely gathered the needs of employing units, thus adjusting the recruitment mode in time through Cloud System.
The third is to put emphasis on statistical verification to ensure the accuracy of employment data. The school implements a three-level system of student verification—college self-examination—school verification to ensure that employment statistics are true and valid. We strive for full coverage of employment statistics verification. On-site inspections of schools and departments began in May and graduates telephone and e-mail follow-up started in August each year.
The fourth is to focus on the application of data and cultivate high-quality service personnel. HNUST has focused on the usage of employment information, compiled employment quality report since 2012, paid regular visits to employers and alumni to collect feedback, timely revised talent training programs, and reformed teaching models. The management measures of enrollment plan have formulated, and by taking the employment status of each specialty as guidance, the arrangements for majors and enrollment plan adjusted. The cooperation between school and enterprise is based on majors’ characteristics and student employment needs.
Wang Hui laid stress on accurately grasping the overall employment situation and monitoring data at certain locations at the conference. He also put forward suggestions on employment stabilization.
It’s said that the Ministry of Education has decided to start monitoring the employment situation of college graduates since 2020 in order to further improve the employment statistical system for college graduates. By taking all factors into consideration, 100 universities are selected for employment monitoring across the country.
