HNUST Teacher Won the Highest Prize in National Sculpture Contest






 
 
On the morning of Dec. 20th, 2017, the Award Ceremony of the First National Sculpture Contest Themed by Chinese Opera & the Opening Ceremony of Excellent Works Exhibition was held at Jiangsu Theatre Center. Zhang Youqun, a teacher from Sculpture Department of Arts School in HNUST, won the Dramatic Sculpture Award, the highest prize of the contest, for his work Li Yuan Liu Yun (Charm of Operatic Players), and was presented the prize by Professor Wu Weishan, the chief exhibition planner, curator of the National Art Museum of China, vice-chairman of China Artists Association and chairman of the Chinese City Sculptor Association.
 
The contest was co-sponsored by the Chinese City Sculptor Association, Jiangsu Provincial CPC Propaganda Department, Jiangsu Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Jiangsu Cultural Investment & Management Group Co., Ltd, 95 from over 1,000 pieces of works were exhibited, and accessed by the experts, 20 of which were awarded in the end—6 with the Dramatic Sculpture Award, 6 with the Artistic Sculpture Award and 8 with the Excellence Award.
 
After the Award Ceremony, Zhang Youqun said that he would keep innovating on the basis of inheriting traditional folk culture and art of the nation and work hard to create excellent works with Chinese characteristics and can reflect the spirit of the time.
