HNUST: Long Time No See

On September 7th, we ushered in the first day of school. HNUST, long time no see.
The First Flag-Raising
At 7:00 am, students came early to the square in front of the Lide Building to participate in the new semester's first flag-raising ceremony, which was presided over by President Zhu Chuanqu and attended by all the school leaders. With the warm words and expectations of Liu Deshun, Party Secretary of HNUST, students opened a new chapter of this semester.
The First Breakfast
After the flag-raising ceremony, students went to the canteens, where hearty breakfasts were all prepared. The first breakfast of the new semester stored energy for them to start the first day of school life. At the same time, in order to better prevent and control the epidemic, tips such as “Stagger Meal Hours” and “Wear Masks” could be seen everywhere.
The First Class
HNUSTers can finally restart on-site class after 8 months!
“Although we attended online classes last semester, I still prefer the face-to-face communication with my teachers like now.” Wang Jingyi from School of Humanities talked about the feeling of the first class. “Haven't seen them for so long, I really miss my students.” Liu Zhiqiang, a teacher of School of Life Science, said, “offline education is better for communication and feedback. I'm very happy that my students listen carefully today.”
The First Class-Meeting
“The first class meeting will be held at 19:00 of 5th in Room 103 of the East of Teaching Building. Please attend it on time.” Zhou Hongyi of School of Humanities received such an “invitation” when she was about to sit and rest. During the class meeting, the head teacher Luo Zhenjun said, “HNUST finally comes alive after a few months’ quietness". In addition to the regular greetings and arrangements, Luo also reminded his students of adjusting their learning state in the new semester and paying attention to their study plans as well as their physical health.
The First Workout
The drizzling day gradually cleared up for welcoming HNUSTers back to school. Students who were fond of morning running, night running, football, basketball, Tai Chi or Ba Duan Jin worked out in the Second Athletic Field where street dancers and Korean dancers made their debuts in turn... The playground has always been the most shining stage for students. Fortunately, it “comes alive” again at the beginning of the new semester after longtime silence.
The First Self-Study
In the bright library at night, HNUSTers in the study room were burying themselves in study. For the first self-study of the new term, Lu Fengmin of School of Resource, Environment and Safety Engineering asked her roommate who was about to go to the library to keep her a place for the postgraduate entrance examination.  With a new goal and plan in the new semester, we should also work hard step by step.
After the COVID-19 pandemic, the familiar life is still beautiful when we meet on campus. From every “First Time”, HNUSTers are setting off for new wishes. Welcome home!
