On December 6th, the exhibition of art works of “Eulogies: flawless beauty” the 3rd Qi Baishi University Culture and Art Festival (Chinese Painting) was opened in HNUST.
Under the guidance of Hunan Provincial Department of Education, China Communist Youth League Committee of Hunan Province and Xiangtan Municipal People’s Government, the festival was sponsored by Hunan Artists Association and Hunan University of Science and Technology. Guests from Hunan Provincial Department Education Department, Chinese Artists Association, HNUST, and other units, art institutions and universities attended the meeting. Representatives of colleges and universities, excellent instructors, award winners and exhibitors were present.
The festival comprises art works (Chinese painting) exhibitions and seminars, tracing to Qi Baishi’s authentic works and history of Xiangtan and many other activities. Since the launch of the event in March this year, the organizing committee has received more than 400 original works from undergraduate and graduate students who are from nearly 90 colleges and universities in China. A total of 100 exhibits (5 of which are cherished works and 15 are collections) were selected by the national famous experts and scholars and exhibited in HNUST. Eight colleges and universities won the “Excellent Organization Award”.
After the opening ceremony, the guests, leaders, and award-winning teachers and students went to the Art Building Exhibition Hall where the 100 selected works were exhibited. The works were striking and memorable.
During the festival, judges, teachers and guests gathered together to discuss the responsibility of “Beauty” in the new era of “Eulogies: flawless beauty”. Guests and award-winning students jointly made on-site creation for the Qi Baishi Art Festival. Award-winning authors, representatives of colleges and universities winning “Excellent Organization Award” went to Qi Baishi Memorial Hall to carry out “Tracing of Qi Baishi’s Authentic Works” activity, and visited Yaowan Old Street - Xiangtan’s earliest cultural origin and the most profound cultural heritage - to know the history and culture of “Lotus city” Xiangtan which was Qi Baishi’s hometown, and to explore the cultural genes of Qi Baishi art.
The exhibition of art works of Qi Baishi University Culture and Art Festival is a national exhibition promoted by HNUST. President Zhu Chuanqu regarded it as an important platform to comprehensively strengthen and improve the aesthetic education of HNUST in the new era. Since 2016, there has been two art festivals. After four years of careful construction, the Art Festival has produced a good response in colleges and universities and even in the world, becoming a highlight of the campus culture construction and the innovation-based talents training.
