Recently, the results of projects funded by the National Social and Science Fund of China (NSSFC) were announced by National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences and National Office for Education Sciences Planning. 21 projects of HNUST have obtained funding, which reached a record high.
The 21 funded projects involve 10 disciplines: Theoretical Economics, Applied Economics, Management Science, and Pedagogy have been approved 3 projects respectively; the Marxist-Leninist Science Society, Journalism and Communication and Sports Science have been approved 2 projects respectively; Philosophy, Chinese history and sociology have been approved 1 project respectively.
Record of the Application Process
National Social and Science Fund of China Projects are the most authoritative and competitive in philosophy and social sciences. The number of the projects funded by NSSFC is one of the important indicators to evaluate the research level of humanities and social sciences in colleges and universities.
Deep Research
Before the project application, the scientific research management department of HNUST conducted an in-depth analysis on 669 teachers from 8 liberal arts schools, 10 provincial liberal arts research bases, and 27 university-level research institutes to comprehensively grasp the information of the qualified teachers.
Target Identification
The application concept of “university-mobilization; school-organization; team-breakthrough” was adhered to. Firstly, HNUST attached great importance to the application. Secondly, schools actively cooperated with each other. Thirdly, the Social Sciences Administration Department of HNUST set targets in a scientific way.
Mutual Cooperation
In recent years, HNUST has firmly promoted the reform and innovation of scientific research system and mechanism, and encouraged scientific workers to actively participate in scientific research. For the application, the Social Sciences Administration Department of HNUST urged the conclusion of the underway projects, released information about project application through multiple channels, and visited and mobilized the scientific researchers.
Quality Improvement
HNUST and each school gave full play to their roles, forming a thorough three-level application system. All the application procedures were properly divided and the application documents were strictly censored on schedule. Peer experts were invited to ensure the quality of the applied projects.
Promising Future
In recent years, with the development of humanities and social sciences, HNUST has formed a gratifying situation, in which basic disciplines have a wider coverage and the applied disciplines gradually strengthen.
It is known that the evaluation results of the late-2020 funded projects and the special projects of the ideological and political theory course research in universities are publicized. HNUST’s four projects are approved, including one key project and three general projects.
