HNUST Graduate Rescues a Kid from Drowning

Recently, HNUST received a commendatory letter from Nanyang Normal University, in which Hu Sui, a 2018 graduate majoring in fine arts in our school, was praised for jumping into the cold lake to rescue the kid who fell into the water.

On March 21th, after he finished his recruitment examinations of Nanyang Normal University, Hu Sui found a 10-year-old boy falling into the lake, who was struggling in panic in the water when passing by the Yangzi Lake in the gymnasium of the school. Seeing that, he dived in the chest-deep water without a second thought, quickly grabbed the drowning boy and dragged him ashore. Thanks to the timely rescue, the drowning boy was safe and sound. However, Hu Sui was soaked, and his fingers were accidentally scratched.

Although he has never learnt to swim, Hu Sui’s kindness spurred him to give a hand when he saw a lively life in danger. In his opinion, the “episode” formed a different fate between him and Nanyang Normal University.

“Throwing himself into the danger for others’ safety, student Hu Sui is an exemplary citizen with a sense of responsibility and justice. Excellent students and outstanding young people like him are needed in our society.”  School of Arts and Design in Nanyang Normal University praised him in the letter.
